Charlie has been with us about 25 years. He was rescued from the slaughter truck in 1989. He was perfectly sound. There did not seem to be any reason for him to go for slaughter other than that he was no longer needed. Kenny and Christy saw a good horse in him and over the years, he taught people how to ride since he has the smoothest gate. He also was shown in western pleasure and made a nice trail horse since he was so comfortable to ride. He was retired about 6 years ago when he developed a problem with chewing as his teeth had flattened out due to age. He is still going strong at about 32 years of age due to hay supplements and fortified grain. He is a friend to all of his pasture mates and loved by all.
